Sector: Education support and training provider working with schools, trusts and education leaders
Scope: Bespoke Software, Support
WNTAI were creating their online courses as SCORM files. Using an external platform to read and display those SCORM files was going to be expensive, so they made the decision to create their own bespoke e-learning platform instead.
A key challenge was avoiding the cost of relying on a third-party learning platform while still giving WNTAI a reliable way to host and deliver their SCORM-based courses. The platform needed to read and display SCORM content properly, while also giving WNTAI more ownership and control over how their online learning experience worked.
The most technically challenging part of the project was implementing the SCORM reader and viewer. SCORM was an unknown technology to us at the time, so there was a learning curve in understanding how to support it properly within a bespoke platform. Even so, we got it working successfully and refined the experience to make it seamless for WNTAI’s customers.
EDBWN built a fully bespoke e-learning platform for WNTAI. The platform allowed WNTAI to create and upload their courses, while giving their customers a secure way to log in and access the courses they had paid for.
The solution included a fully functional SCORM reader and viewer, allowing SCORM-based content to be delivered through WNTAI’s own platform rather than a third-party system. We also built certificate generation on course completion, helping create a complete learning experience for end users.
The platform itself was built to be easy to use, fast in day-to-day operation, and ready to be extended in the future as WNTAI’s needs develop.
It also included user and course management, course progress tracking, reporting, and a range of admin tools to support WNTAI in running and managing the platform effectively.
The new platform gave WNTAI full control over their learning experience. They could add as many courses as they wanted without paying additional platform costs, which created a much stronger commercial position for the business.
Owning the platform also became an important part of WNTAI’s unique selling point, allowing them to deliver their training in a way that was more flexible and more closely aligned to their own offer.
We used a SCRUM agile approach and worked closely with stakeholders throughout the project. This collaborative way of working helped ensure the platform reflected exactly what WNTAI wanted and supported the way they wanted to deliver their training.
The project did not stop at launch. We continue to support and evolve the platform as WNTAI’s needs grow and their training offer develops.
